The DMV bass scene is absolutely booming high right now. In the last month alone we’ve seen appearances from underground titans Humandala and Crawdad Sniper to neuro icons Kursa and Koan Sound. One player adding to the madness is Good Productions – a promo group starting to make a name for themselves in the DMV.
The last time we spoke with Good Productions, they were gearing up for their NYE celebration at Lost n Found; an event that further established them as a crew that knows how to host a function. Today, we encounter the Baltimore-based group as they prepare for their biggest lineup to date featuring the likes of DRRTYWULVZ and Duffrey. The event is dubbed an Autumn Revival Reunion with fellow promoters Rhythm City Collective and Kouch Kollective helping out on curation.
Show after show, Good Productions’ founders Nathalie Werebe and Sol Bowden prove that they are trying to create a “mini-festival atmosphere” with tons of attractions besides the music. For this particular event, the collective plans to host an outdoor cookout before the show and will provide a lounge area, live painters, arts & crafts, a vendor market, and games & activities to keep people entertained during the show.
As for the sound, we’ve got a pair of highly potent producers – Duffrey and DRRTYWULVZ – looking to make their return to the DMV with nothing but dynamite. Here is a little more about these two acts and what they’ve been up to recently.
Duffrey Keeps Climbing
This past January we were elated to feature Duffrey on our list of Breakout Artists of 2023. Although fans were gutted to find out about the recent retirement of Ultrasloth – a group he formed with kLL sMTH and Biolumigen – Duffrey has been on his own tear recently.
In these first two months of 2024, Duffrey has released a frothy new single and performed a trio of wild shows including a legendary set at Cervantes’.
In addition to a busy release and performance schedule, the sonic shredder has also announced a new merch line and the impending arrival of his “biggest collab to date” – a baby! We couldn’t be happier for Duffrey’s success and are looking forward to seeing him shut it down at The Crown this coming Saturday.
DRRTYWULVZ Keeps Barking
At the beginning of the month, I got to see DRRTYWULVZ perform at Warehouse On Watts for a Philly crowd that was foaming from the mouth. Throughout his 60-minute set, he weaved together an entrancing blend of psybass and glitch hop that had those Funktion-One speakers screaming down Broad Street.
Aside from Philly, the ATX bass demon has touched down in St. Pete, Indianapolis, and Denver – the latter of which was more or less a BoggDogg release party for their debut LP. This Friday, the day before his return to the DMV, DRRTYWULVZ will be in Charlotte for a performance with Path of The Moose – a collab project he has with Know Matter.
Bringing the momentum up the coast the very next day, we encounter DRRTYWULVZ in Baltimore for his performance with Good Productions. With no 2024 releases as of yet, we’re banking on a set that includes tons of IDs and unreleased work.
Supporting Cast – Fearful, Jack The Giant, Revival Fam B2B
Towing up support we’ve got a great trio of acts set to add some serious depth to the night. Opening up the place we’ve got Jack The Giant and his live band – a rotation of Richmond artists that dip through psytrance, dubstep, jamtronica, and live instrumentation. For the Baltimore performance, fans will get to witness a three-piece rendition of the band featuring drums, guitar, and turntables (scratching).
Making the night even more eventful will be the East Coast debut of Fearful. The UK-based artist transcends genres when it comes to his live sets, the likes of which tend to be layered with omnitempo stylings and nuanced distortions of every matter.
Last but not least, we’ve got the Revival Fam B2B, an entourage of artists from Good Production’s Autumn Revival Festival that include Soss, Sol Good, Patient Patient, Poetic, and a few more!
With the addition of Rhythm City Collective and Kouch Kollective co-producing the event, we’re expecting nothing but fireworks for this incredibly stacked co-headliner. Arrive early for the barbeque from 6-8, stay late, and get home safe – see you on Saturday.
