The EDM scene is as diverse as it’s ever been, with the glitch hop revival, UKG wave, and downtempo movement serving as flames for this melting pot we now find ourselves in.
This is in part thanks to selectors like Maryland’s Shreztah, whose approach is a striking reflection of these eclectic times.
The tempo-switching, genre-bending artist is a well-versed sonician, who time and time again proves his knowledge and control over a wide spectrum of genres that have filled spaces from Flash to Fire Lights.
While he might be better known for his mixing abilites and musical IQ, which reveals itself in boundary-defying live sets, the East Coast native has been sharpening his skills in the studio, with a recent 4-piece EP establishing a growing mastery of multigenre production.
While the release, titled Dance Done, touches down in multiple tempos, including jungle, dubstep, and halftime, the tracks still retain a consistent ethos that shines a light on Shreztah’s rapidly developing trademark flavor and storytelling capabilities.
This weekend you can catch him and Togeki holding down the co-headlining slot for Flower Moon Day Party in NY as Outhear, and next week playing a hometown show at one of the latest venues to plant a flag in our nation’s capital, Transmission.
