10 Must-See Artists at Suwannee Hulaween 2024

Although we’re still in the thick of the dog days of summer, the first hints of fall are upon us — cooler breezes, earlier sunsets, and the yellowing edges of leaves on the trees. And while it’s heartbreaking to see the end of festival season looming ever closer, it brings with it one of the greatest parties of the year: Suwannee Hulaween.

Whether you’re a folk fan, a house head, or a dubstep devotee, Hulaween is one of those unique and special gatherings that has something to offer to every attendee. The hardest part? Deciding which of the talented artists on the lineup to check out when the schedule drops and conflicts inevitably arise. Whether you’re stuck between choices or simply looking for something new to explore, we’ve got you covered.

As we gear up for our return to the always-magical Spirit of Suwannee Music Park, we’ve been giving everyone a listen to see which musical acts are bringing something truly special to the table. While it was hard to pick just ten, we’ve narrowed it down to create the following list of can’t-miss artists you’ll want to catch for a top-tier Hulaween experience.

1. Tash Sultana

Tash Sultana, hailing from Melbourne, Australia, exploded onto the scene in 2016 with the release of their hit single “Jungle.” They are a musical force to be reckoned with, complete with genre-blending prowess and incredible live performances. Their unique, self-taught ability to combine psychedelic rock, soul, and electronic music makes Tash Sultana’s sets an incredible showcase of their multi-instrumental talent and vocal abilities. Tash Sultana will often use a loop pedal to back themselves up live on guitar, creating a one-of-a-kind musical act that can’t quite be replicated by anyone else in this generation. If you’re seeking an unforgettable, immersive journey, this Hulaween artist is a must-see.

2. The Bobby Weir Incident

Iconic and long-established jam band The String Cheese Incident will be playing two sets of their own this weekend, and we certainly don’t recommend missing those, but their team-up with Grateful Dead legend Bob Weir will be an incredible and unique offering unlike any other. With two 90-minute sets over the course of one night, jam fans and Deadheads alike will get their cups filled to the brim with what is sure to be an astounding strings showdown.

3. Tipper

Anyone well-versed in the festival scene is likely aware of Tipper’s impending retirement, but it always bears repeating that his remaining sets are dwindling in numbers and not to be missed. This is likely to be one of his last-ever sets at Suwannee, and although it will be at the main stage and not the amphitheater (to the woe of fans who regularly trek to springtime Tipper & Friends events at the same venue), there is always true magic in the air when Dave makes his way out to Florida to throw down. If you’re in the mood for unreal trip-hop, glitch, and breakbeat combined live scratching unlike any other, make sure to show up for this.

4. Dirtwire

Dirtwire is a three-piece band comprised of Evan Fraser, David Satori, and Mark Reveley. They are known for their eclectic “swamptronica” fusion of dance, folk, and world music, as well as their ability to play a variety of different instruments like kalimbas, flutes, ukuleles, and even Zimbabwean thumb pianos. With their creative use of traditional instruments alongside more modern production techniques, Dirtwire builds a sonic landscape that is both globally inspired and completely original to them. Their live performances bring out an infectious energy that will make it impossible for you to sit down throughout their set, and there is truly a sound here for everyone to love.

5. Chase and Status

Chase and Status went viral last fall after their Boiler Room London set was posted online, and for good reason: they create absolutely explosive drum and bass. Whether or not you’re a DNB fan, it’s hard to deny that it’s finally having a moment in America, as it’s unlikely a duo such as this one would have headlined a major festival here even a couple of years ago. This pairing (Saul Milton and Will Kennard, with live drum accompaniment from Andy Gangadeen), will be heating up Suwannee with high-tempo bangers that are going to build an insane crowd energy you’ll want to check out for yourself. If you still don’t like DNB after this set, at least you’ll know you gave it a fair shot by seeing some of the very best artists the genre has to offer at Hulaween.

6. Justin Jay b2b Nala

Whenever you’re ready to get into a groove with some boots and cats, Justin Jay b2b Nala will be on standby to take you there. Justin Jay, who has worked with iconic house labels like Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird, is a well-established beat curator who mixes soul and funk influences into his work. This will pair beautifully with Nala’s indie-electronic vibes and live vocal stylings. Hulaween has several incredibly talented house artists on its roster this year, but you can avoid some of the conflict FOMO by knocking out two Hulaween artists in one at this set.

7. Moontricks

Canadian duo Moontricks has been enjoying more bookings, festival performances, and a steady rise in popularity as of late, and it’s well-earned. Their bluegrass and dub fusion, affectionately called “boot stomping bass,” is as fun as it is addicting to listen to. We may be gearing up for a party in the swamps of Northern Florida, but Moontricks will have you transported into the mountains of Appalachia before you know it. Get your boots and hats out for this one — it’s going to be lively.

8. Zingara

If you’re on the hunt for some classic dubstep and wubs to get grimy to, look no further than Zingara. This 25-year-old producer from Baltimore has been making waves for her top-notch sound design and absolutely filthy drops, which will make it nearly impossible to sit still for any of her set. Although the schedule isn’t out yet, Zingara is a perfect vibe for late-night throwdowns. You’re sure to see plenty of bucket hats, sprouts, and pashminas when you drop by for this shindig.

9. Black Pumas

Grammy-nominated R&B group Black Pumas will be bringing something to the table at Hulaween that no other artist can copy. Coming from Austin, Texas, singer Eric Burton and guitarist Adrian Quesada have been heralded for their captivating stage presence and psychedelic fusion. Their sound combines vintage soul with modern grooves, creating a rich, eclectic style that has garnered rapid and widespread acclaim. If you find yourself in the mood for a more laid-back, old-school feel that still rocks out, this is the set for you.

10. Cory Wong

Cory Wong is a guitar player and producer from Minneapolis, and he’ll be bringing impeccable jazz and funk vibes with him to Suwannee. While his studio releases already shine on their own merit, his live sets turn it up by 100 to create a dance party that’s pure feel-good energy. Whether he’s flying solo or potentially collaborating with other Hulaween artists (which he excels at!), he brings both passion and talent to the center stage. Be sure to check out some of his music beforehand so you can sing along when he drops his hits.

The festival is fast approaching, so secure your passes here and keep up with oncoming Hulaween artist schedules, news, and information at the links below. We’ll see you there!
