Based in the birth place of techno, Detroit producer Tony Schiappacasse, a.k.a. IOTA, has quickly become an artist to watch since his first release in 2016.
Following signings on impressive imprints HotBOi Records, Brashbeats, and Late Night Munchies, IOTA made his debut on the budding D.C. label Chub Rub today. A contagious slice of high-octane house, “You’re Not Free” is a timeless track that is sure to tear up the dancefloor.
Featuring a punchy kick, bouncing bass and a fitting Jim Jones cult vocal sample, this vibrant record has a knack for shimmying its way into your subconscious. With a smooth, grooving drop that slaps, “You’re Not Free” makes for the quintessential track for any after-hours vibe.

Schiappacasse first met label boss Zach Eser (zacheser) and the Chub Rub crew during Option4‘s ‘Producer Hunt’ back in 2017. Chosen as finalists for the competition, they quickly became friends. After Eser launched the label later that year, it was only a matter of time until an IOTA release was in the works for the imprint.
Schiappacasse shared his sentiments about joining the fun-loving label below:
“Eventually it got down to me showing Chub Rub a project I was working on for feedback – this “You’re not free” track. They loved it, I think. They got back to immediately, before it was even a finished tune. I wrapped it up, sent it over and we got down to pen and paper. After, they flew me out to play their quarterly event at Flash Club D.C W/ Nu Androids and I got to go URL to IRL [in real life] with all of these people. It was honestly so awesome. Their whole crew are as professional and respectable offline as they are online. They’re a wholesome crew, and they’re going to do some wicked stuff this year.”
A label to keep an eye on, Chub Rub is building something truly special. With the debut of two massive EP’s and releases in 2018 from signed Dirtybird’s Danny Kolk and Ed Lee, and a number of others from a variety of talented up and comers, this imprint is certainly making a name for themselves.
