WARPED TOUR JUST ANNOUNCED AN EVACUATION OF THEIR FESTIVAL GROUNDS DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER IN HOUSTON.
ATTENTION HOUSTON
Due to inclement weather, we will be evacuating the festival area. Please make your way back to the main entrance in a calm and orderly fashion. Security personnel will direct you through the adjacent parking lot & over the bridge to NRG Center – Hall D.— Vans Warped Tour (@VansWarpedTour) July 8, 2018
Houston Weather meteorologist Collin Myers tweeted this earlier today:
11:40am: Scattered storms picking up. Isolated heavy rain.
Flood advisories in place for some of the heavier rainfall. 1-2 inches coming down per hour.
Lots of lightning. @abc13houston#abc13 https://t.co/tdwof9Lhor pic.twitter.com/iiakMppFLh— Collin Myers ABC13 (@collinabc13) July 8, 2018
The Houston date kicked off with heavy thunderstorms, according to Twitter reports, and the weather has only continued to escalate. Warped Tour recently made sure to clarify that they are NOT shut down but instead are on standby until the weather passes. This follows the cancellation of last year’s Free Press Houston festival. All and all, Houston hasn’t had any luck with festivals recently.
