Last night, at Beyond Wonderland, a gunman opened fire in a crowd killing two people and injuring three. The incident happened at 8:23 pm, PST, in overflow camping which is about a 20-30 minute walk from the Gorge Amphitheatre.
According to Grant County Sheriff’s Office public information officer Kyle Foreman, the shooter “fired randomly into the crowd,” walked away from where the incident happened, then “continued to randomly shoot in the crowd.” The suspect was taken into custody shortly after.
Updates this morning on the shooting at the Gorge Amphitheater:
-Today’s Beyond Wonderland event is canceled
-An independent investigation team is now in charge because officers shot the shooting suspect
-Suspect is not in the jail. I imagine he’s in a hospital being treated— Melissa Luck ☘ (@MelissaKXLY4) June 18, 2023
Foreman also stated that an independent agency will be conducting an investigation because the incident was an “officer-involved shooting.” Currently, authorities are unaware of any motive and will not be releasing the victims’ or suspect’s names until the investigation is complete and families are notified.
Beyond Wonderland cancelled day two and released the following statement.
