Barclay Crenshaw, aka Claude VonStroke, the mastermind behind Dirtybird Records, is switching things up with his 2024 headline tour, Open Channel. Known for his Claude VonStroke house vibes, Barclay is diving into the bass music, hitting iconic spots like Webster Hall in a fresh era. The 13-stop tour is just a taste of his upcoming album, also named Open Channel, dropping this spring.
The switch to Barclay Crenshaw kicked off with an Of The Trees collab, “Blue Mile ft. Strategy.” The single mixed experimental bass/trap and UK vocals from Strategy and debuted at Red Rocks, giving fans a glimpse into Crenshaw’s diverse style. The first single from Open Channel, “Big In The Game (feat. Snowy & Manga Saint Hilare),” drops on January 5th of next year
Barclay Crenshaw’s journey to Open Channel is a wild 80-day ride, immersing himself in beat-making, cold showers, and meditation to redefine his sound. Shifting away from his house roots, Crenshaw pays tribute to his beginnings, exploring bass, electronica, and hip-hop. Since his 2017 debut album, he’s evolved, and the Open Channel tour reflects this musical journey.
Beyond just music, Crenshaw is creating a new community vibe, breaking free from algorithms. He wants fans to connect and explore the ever-changing electronic music world through “open channels.” In his words,
“I dig through genres so you don’t have to. Let’s start a community of music explorers that isn’t controlled by computers.”
For the tour’s visuals, Crenshaw teams up with LightBender and Daniel Martin Diaz, bringing a fresh, artsy flair. The tour runs from March to May 2024, hitting Webster Hall, Concord Music Hall, The North Warehouse, and The Concourse Project. It’s not just about the music; each show aims to create a community vibe, inviting you into Barclay Crenshaw’s musical world.
The Open Channel tour boasts a killer lineup with EPROM, Tiedye Ky, LYNY, Super Future, FLY, Great Dane, Sicaria, and Shiny Things, promising an epic bass music journey.
