The Autumn Revival 2024 lineup is kind of like when your friend comes back from summer break really jacked. Or with a really cool septum piercing. Although the 2023 lineup was good, this year’s lineup is great, and turning heads across the map.
Still, the community-oriented mindset is deeply embedded in this boutique festival that is carving out a beloved history for itself. Staring down their most stacked lineup yet, we are faced with some big names and a few up and coming favorites. Below, we break down our most anticipated acts and offer a few reasons why you should make their sets a part of your schedule at this year’s Autumn Revival.
5AM
The musical genius of 5AM, much like his arrangements, are comprised of several complex layers. Whether on his solo endeavors or with the trio, 5AM’s sonic stylings feature a revolving palette of vivid colors and shapes of every dimension. There’s really no telling what kind of set 5AM will play come Autumn Revival as the Philadelphia artist has a deep bag of tricks to pull from. While the 15K Gems mix may give an idea of where he wants to take the set, don’t be surprised if he uses it as an opportunity to experiment and have a little fun.
Duffrey
As one of River Beats’ breakout artists of 2023, Duffrey is someone who needs no introduction. But we’ll do it anyway. Plate slanging, cat scratching, bass music afficanado, Duffrey is an artist who really took his spot on the podium in recent years. His first headlining tour, massive support plays with the likes of Daily Bread, Papadosio, and STS9, plus a steady stream of releases have spored his sound throughout sound systems everywhere. With a modest fall tour, which includes a stop at Autumn Revival, expect Duffrey to be firing on all cylinders.
Smigonaut
Berklee alumnus, sonic cartographer, and musical mastermind Smigonaut is currently experiencing a breakout year with several high-profile plays and a handful of pivotal releases. From Infrasound, to Rendezvous, to Fire Lights and more, Smigonaut has lit up crowds across the map with no plans of slowing down. His 2024 minimix was a firm declaration that the LA-based producer is not content with one genre or another, and instead prefers to explore several. It isn’t uncommon for said exploration to take place on stage with past performances spanning through various tempos and subgenres. Sunset, sunrise, in the middle of the night, it doesn’t matter when or where Smigonaut plays, his ability to weave together soundscapes in any environment is immutable.
BackLeft
Perhaps one of our most anticipated acts for Autumn Arrival 2024 is the neuro-forward project of BackLeft. The Denver-based artist laid down a choice set alongside VCTRE for River Beats’ The Deep series last year and we’ve been chasing his live sets ever since. Recent work shows an artist who has undergone tremendous growth since that summertime pool party and one who is intent on refining an ethos that is truly his own. Putting his Gene Driver EP under the spotlight, we come across a chaotic sound that bounds and ricochets with a mind of its own. Don’t expect for BackLeft to be gentle when you come across his set at Camp Ramblewood.
Benji Robot
One for the true heads, Benji Robot is an act that has weaved in and out of the spotlight with an illusive and unconventional approach to music production. Benji Robot isn’t following any trends or looking to appease any other person besides himself when it comes to his art. Or atleast it doesn’t sound like it. In examination of Benji Robot’s debut LP, Sedona, we are introduced to an artist who utilizes long, psybient brush strokes in the composition of his soundscapes. Fast forward to his most recent release, a single by the name of “Tripper,” we are once again shown Benji Robot’s tendency to follow no set pattern or rules. Benji Robot is an incredibly rare act, and one you will be lucky to see before he heads back to his spaceship and flys away.
Sol Good
A River Beats favorite, Sol Good, is someone we’ve thoroughly enjoyed keeping up with over the years. In a recent interview with the Charm City selector, we spoke about the Future Antiques LP and all the momentum surrounding the project. If there is anything we learned about Sol Good it’s that he’s an impassioned risk taker. Whether it’s sampling Led Zeppelin or throwing a festival, we believe these risks have paid off not just for the project, but for the community he’s a part of as well. He’s an artist that’s easy to get behind, not only for his electronic compositions but for his enthusiasm in growing the scene as well, and we can’t wait to see him bring it for the home crowd.
Kazi
If there is one thing that Autumn Revival stands on, it’s dedication to supporting the local scene. This year’s lineup is loaded with Maryland acts and Kazi is one of many that we are excited to see represent the area. While he is still building out a modest catalog and his tour history is minimal, the one thing he isn’t lacking is effort. Whether its through self-promotion, networking, or hours in the studio, Kazi has put in the energy to get where he is today and performances alongside Resonant Language, or this upcoming play at Autumn Revival, are well-deserved.
Limbus Luna
Another under-the-radar artist we’ve had our eye on is Limbus Luna out of Montgomery County, Maryland. His Revival mix dropped earlier this year presents an enchanting blend of halftime and ethereal bass music that stirs the soul and spikes the senses. It’s music that makes you think of memories. Nostalgic and dreamy yet still driven with some gas in the engine. Autumn Revival will be Limbus Luna’s first all-original set and I am particularly excited to see how he’s grown since the mix.
