White Lights Delivers Downtempo Vibes in ‘Simulation Breakdown’

After the release of the lead single from his forthcoming album, White Lights returns with another downtempo gem, “Simulation Breakdown.” He continues down the path of exploring modern minimalism with his music. White Light’s take on minimal R&B combines both pain and heartbreak, common feelings and emotions to the human experience with a profound mantra… simulation breakdown.

White Lights explains that the song is “an attempt to share what [his] anxiety attacks feel like by drawing comparisons between them and the eerily common experiences of “Deja Vu” or what some people describe as “feeling the matrix breakdown...” He describes further below:

“The song describes an anxiety attack via inner dialogue between my anxious self and my rational self. I try to illustrate the paradoxical thoughts and general confusion of someone succumbing to their panic throughout the song until the rational self breaks me out of my nervous spiral with interventional thinking, which helps me in real life.”

“Simulation Breakdown” manipulates fragments of R&B, minimalist electronica, and alternative vocals to create lush and breathy soundscapes.
