Under The Current: The Best New Music You Haven't Heard Yet

Every week Under the Current brings you the best new music from artists that need to be on your radar.

This week we have the return of some old favorites in Moon Boots and Wave Racer, a nostalgia-filled remix of Space Jam, and of course some bass and house heaters to get down to.

Check out our favorite new tracks from the past week, and stream the entire playlist below.

Yolanda Be Cool – Space Jam (Noizu Remix)

Remember Space Jam? Of course you do, but not like this. Back in April Yolanda Be Cool gave the classic song new life, and now it’s getting the remix treatment from Noizu. This is pure nostalgia in the form of a house banger.

Wave Racer – Summer Rain (ft Kwame)

Australian producer Wave Racer made huge waves in the electronic world with his unique sound before going on hiatus several years ago. Now he’s back and better than ever. Featuring the hip-hop vocals of fellow Australian talent Kwame, “Summer Rain” seeks to build on the ultra-textured maximalist sound that Wave Racer became known for prior to his hiatus.

Moon Boots – Tied Up

“Tied Up” is a jazzy house track from Moon Boots, and the first single from his newly announced album Bimini Road.

Patricia Baloge – Desire

Hailing from Ghana, growing up in Montpellier, France and currently Brooklyn based, Patricia Baloge has been exposed to a variety of musical genres, and it shows in her eclectic mixes that fuse afrohouse, deep house, and a plethora of other sounds. “Desire” is her debut single as she takes her talent from behind the decks into the studio.

“We’re here to put every possible expression of ourselves out in the world.” – Patricia Baloge

32Stitches – Olympus

I’m not much of a gamer, but this God of War inspired bass track makes you feel like you’re in the thick of battle, complete with orchestral strings, battle drums and tension-building risers.

“I’m a big-time gamer when I’m not making music and a lot of my inspiration comes from the content that I play as well. During the making of Olympus, I was heavily inspired by God of war. The battle of Kratos and Thor was the moment that inspired the whole idea, the track is a representation of that battle in my own style” -32Stitches

Cheyenne Giles – Blow The Whistle

Giles is a San Diego born producer making noise on Tiësto’s Musical Freedom imprint. “Blow the Whistle” is an epic big room explosion from this exciting new artist. Listen below!

ATLiens – Shelter

Masked duo ATLiens are back with another supernatural bass track, and this one is heavy. Complete with spine-chilling vocals and floor-shaking bass, “Shelter” will have you headbanging all the way to space.

Tinlicker – Lost (ft Run Rivers)

Having played every stop of the Anjunabeats 17 date North American tour this Spring, Tinlicker has finally released a track on the label, and it’s pure deep house beauty. Fans of Lane 8 and Luttrell, you’re going to love this one.

Marten Hørger- Gonna Be Me EP

Everything that comes out of Tchami’s CONFESSION label is dark house gold, and this is no exception. Making use of dark, addictive basslines and cleverly placed samples, MARTEN HØRGER has delivered a pair of house heaters that are gonna be on rotation all summer.

VOLO – Live Free

Live Free, the debut album from VOLO, is a journey into ethereal and earthly soundscapes that powerfully captures the human experience. VOLO has toured and collaborated with one of our favorite artists CloZee, and fans of hers will love this.

These are just a few of the songs in the newest update to Freshly Picked Beats. Be sure to check out the Spotify playlist in its entirety below.
