Tipper Is Officially Retired: Relive His Last Moments at Red Rocks

tipper retirement

And that’s that.

Tipper, the artist who has amassed one of the biggest cult followings and dedicated fan bases in experimental bass, the producer who helped grow the proliferation of various genres, while creating his own along the way, has officially retired.

Pouring out of Red Rocks this past Sunday night, following his last set, fans were met with a whirlwind of emotions. Sadness because he’s gone. Happiness because he happened. And uncertain of what’s to come next.

What is next? Has it already arrived? Will the legacy Tipper created simply remain a legacy? Or will the culture he has helped create continue to grow and take on a new shape?

These are the question marks he has left behind, and while they remain unanswered, time will certainly tell what’s to come.

In the last moments of his last set, as he scratched a sign off to the crowd (slide 14), you can almost hear him explain the reasons why he has to go, say his thank yous, and bid us farewell.

As you watch the following clips and reflect back on his music and performances over the years, we hope you remember the magic that occurred when we all gathered to watch him share his art.

Here’s to Suwannee nights, Alabama getaways, the oddball spirit, and all the beautiful moments that brought us closer together.

Thanks for everything Dave.
