Positivity, kindness, and empathy seem to be the theme for Josephine Vander Gucht and Anthony West. better known as the British alt-pop duo Oh Wonder. The two have had a remarkable year in 2017. Vander Gucht exclaimed about the progress they’ve made this past year, as their show on October 18th filled The Shrine Auditorium–one of the largest venues in Los Angeles.
From selling out venues on three continents to having one of their songs sampled by LiL Uzi Vert, the British duo continues with the success received for their self-titled debut album.
Our River Beats staff had the unique opportunity to attend two shows on the Ultralife tour. The two locations included the 9:30 club in Washington D.C., and their performance at The Shrine.
“Anything that you guys think is entirely impossible, that is out of your reach, all of that stuff is entirely irrelevant. If we can somehow end up at the other side of the world singing in front of 4,000 people, you can do anything.”
– Josephine Vander Gucht, from The Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on October 18th, 2017.
The duo performed fan favorites including “Drive,” “Lose It,” “Shark,” “Without You,” and “Body Gold.” Josephine and Anthony were backed by an elaborate light display in the shape of the band’s initials (“OW”).
In each live performance, Oh Wonder‘s love for their fans, their music, and life itself was on full display.
From the East Coast to the West, a few key themes rang true on the Ultralife tour: great music, unmatched vibes, positivity and tons of energy. Both events had a large turnout and engaging audience, singing along to every word of every song.
Satisfying fans across North America, Oh Wonder further solidifies their status as a force to be reckoned with as they continue to find success in the U.S. market. Touring nonstop since their Coachella debut back in April, Oh Wonder finally finished their first North American tour on October 22nd in Seattle, WA.
