If you’re a comedy fan living in New Orleans, October 6th through the 16th is the definition of a comedic “Super Bowl”. For ten straight days, some of the country’s best and brightest will head down to the Big Easy to headline the fifth annual Hell Yes Fest. Curated and produced by New Orleans-based “A New Movement Theater” & Huka Entertainment, Hell Yes Fest brings together sketch comedy, improv, storytelling, podcasts, films, web series, panels, prop comedy and stand up, to over nine different New Orleans venues throughout Downtown, the Irish Channel, Treme, Bywater, French Quarter, and the Marigny.
With its origins in Austin and New Orleans, Hell Yes Fest presents a unique approach to comedy by combining multiple genres with both local and national comedians. The festival has grown tremendously over the past years, becoming the Gulf south’s largest and most notorious comedy festival. Past performers have included Tim Andre, Doug Benson, Tim Heidecker, Neil Hamburger and countless others. This year’s festival has moved to several larger venues to encompass the large capacity that is expected with some of the larger names involved.
Hell Yes Fest kicks off Thursday, October 6th at the New Movement Theater and will conclude on Sunday, October 16. Headliner Sarah Silverman will headline the 2016 Hell Yes Fest with a set at New Orleans’ Saenger Theatre on the final day of the festival. Along with Silverman, other headliners for this year include for include, Daily Show’s Hasan Minaj, Nick Swardson, MTV’s “Girl Code” featuring Caryly Aquilino, Jamie Lee and Annie Lederman, Brandon Wardell, Cameron Esposito and Ben Gleib.
