According to BBC News, the police have reported no suspicious circumstances, and his publicist has released a statement that states the singer died peacefully at his home in Oxford, England over the Christmas holiday.
Michael was a pop icon for the majority of the late 80’s and 90’s, having sold more than 100 million records worldwide. Billboard magazine ranks him among the best-selling acts of all time, and number 40 in the ranks of the 100 most successful artists to ever live.
