RELEASED ON THEIR LABEL 17 STEPS, U.K. HOUSE DUO DUSKY UNVEILED THEIR HIGHLY ANTICIPATED ASET FOREVER EP TODAY. And trust us when we say it bumps.
As their first original production in 2018, the five-track slammer pays tribute to Jan Francis, a close friend of Nick and Alfie who tragically lost his life late last year. As founder of the ATG graffiti crew and co-founder of School Records, Francis landed Dusky their first London gigs which ultimately helped catapult the duo into the scene.
Featuring grooving synths, popping Italo basslines, hard-hitting techno and bouncing breakbeat house, the Aset Forever EP has a little something for all lovers of the underground. Crafted for the dancefloor, this masterpiece once again showcases Dusky’s ability to seamlessly intertwine various influences to create their unique sound.
A fan favorite, “Amongst the Gods” weaves classic sunrise melodies and blissful vocals over complex breakbeat rhythms to create a record perfect for any set, day or night. Quickly changing pace, the EP moves into “The Ace,” a driving track set at a striking 130 BPM. A cut of dark techno, “Staunch” follows, featuring mysterious sci-fi chords and “ecstasy” samples layered over infectious basslines.
The B-side of the EP takes a bit of a turn to the deeper side. Pulling influences from Detroit Techno and classic House textures, the first track “Angles” is saturated with airy synths and bubbling bass. Rounding out the five-track masterpiece, “The Captain” is a wash of entrancing sounds over vintage Italo basslines.
