Nearly three years after releasing his acclaimed Liminal EP, Detox Unit returns with Schematic, a four-track project that marks the beginning of his next creative chapter.
Developed over several years and first introduced through its lead single, “Detonator,” the EP reflects Detox’s patient approach to releasing music. Instead of chasing a constant release schedule, he focuses on creating music built to last.
Detox joined us last week for an EP release party in Denver, and it was every part of a vibe.
The project takes its name from a schematic, a blueprint that breaks a larger system down to its essential components. Detox Unit applies that same idea across the EP, stripping each track down to its strongest elements and letting every sound serve a purpose. The result is a focused body of work that balances detailed sound design, tight rhythms, and serious dancefloor energy.
Schematic opens with the atmospheric tension of “Low Visibility” before moving into the explosive “Detonator.” From there, “Big Mood” brings additional weight and groove, while “Equidistant” closes the project with a hypnotic and precise finish. Together, the four tracks showcase an artist continuing to evolve while remaining unmistakably Detox Unit.
As an added thank-you to longtime listeners, Detox Unit will release his highly requested remix of Ludacris’ “The Potion” exclusively through Bandcamp and SoundCloud.
The EP also reflects Roberts’ approach as a DJ. Drawing inspiration from old-school DJ culture, he produces tracks with live performance in mind—music that can be mixed, manipulated, and experienced differently with every set. That philosophy has helped make him one of bass music’s most respected technical DJs, known for building unique performances rather than relying on a fixed routine.
The release arrives during one of his busiest touring years yet. Following surprise appearances at Electric Forest—including a packed Good Life Stage performance and his first back-to-back set with Thought Process at Grand Artique—Detox Unit continues into headlining performances at Sound Haven and Nocturnal Valley. He will also return to Secret Dreams, join Of The Trees at Camp Alderwild, and appear at several additional festivals throughout the remainder of 2026.
