Arriving like an apparition in the Summer of 2021, with a sound design and aggressive sonic profile that rivaled some of the most heavyweight glitch hop gunslingers in underground bass, Cool Customer has been at the center of conversation and debate regarding his status as a torchbearer for the current revolution occurring in experimental electronica.
With so much hype, came high expectations, but it’s now safe to say that Cool Customer, government name William Allocca, has delivered, with a gnarled package of halftime anarchy he has trademarked and expanded upon for the past four years.
While past mixes, releases, and performances have certified his position among the pioneers of tomorrow, it seemed as if the Florida-based producer was holding back. That all changed when Cool Customer dropped his Thank You For Holding EP, a five-piece dedication to what we believe is William Alloca’s most honest interpretation of bass music and beatmaking to date.

The distinction of this EP lies in its singular focus: Allocca is finally creating music for himself, not for the consensus of his peers.
Track Analysis
While the first two tracks, “Say What” and “The M.F.,” are prime examples of Cool Customer’s ability to compose clean, well-designed, halftime bangers, we already knew he could do that. It’s in the second half of this EP where Alloca’s true colors shine, starting with “Hunky Dory.”
Contrary to the song title, the emotional undertones of this track are far from optimistic. It’s conflicted, radiating an energy of uncertainty and eagerness for change. What those conflicts are and what that change may be is up to the listener, but one thing is for certain, and that’s the emotional energy oozing out of every pore of this track.

The despondent sax riffs, that shattered bassline echoing into emptiness. Alloca asserts that this project was “extremely challenging and personal,” a journey we can see raging in full force for all 173 seconds of this song.
Easing the emotional tension and release from “Hunky Dory,” we are then met with the final and most surprising track off the EP, the title track, “Thank You For Holding.”
A chill, soulful, boom-bap-injected, sonic collage, this is the kind of music we think Alloca really loves to make. Our suggestion is that this single isn’t a one-off, and Cool Customer has a whole beat tape worth of this stuff.
It’s a track you’d expect to hear on Bread & Breakfast or an all.Lo Collective mix, not a Cool Customer EP. Interestingly enough, this chiller side of Cool Customer has been foreshadowed in brief moments in tracks like “Patience,” aptly named for the time fans spent “holding” for this new avenue of the project to be revealed.
What’s Next?
While Alloca has chosen to keep his personal life out of the spotlight, only recently revealing his government name publicly, this EP bears a side of his psyche, sonic palette, and personality that has never previously been revealed.
We look forward to keeping up with the elusive Cool Customer as he continues to surprise us and show fans more of his curious, creative nature. Keep up with him in the links below to do the same.
