Okeechobee – me, you, music, and the beauty of Sunshine Grove.
If you plan on being there next weekend, here are a couple acts we think you should check out.
Tractorbeam
With a lightshow that’d make the LD at Heaven’s gate say, “god damn,” Tractorbeam is The Disco Biscuit’s twisted, high-tempo side project that focuses on EDM and electronic-leaning covers.
LCD Soundsystem
“I wish that we could talk about it…” And we will. Before, not during, but definitely after, LCD Soundsystem headlines Okeechobee Saturday night. Tissues recommended.
Resonant Language
Resonant Language. Saturday. Midnight. Incendia Stage. Is that diabolical or what? We’ve got our fingers crossed for evil Pat, ecspecially after his sound has grown so increasingly complex, as indicated by Eviscerate, his first release in nearly three years.
Sister Nancy
Any OG Skate fans in the chat? If so, you know very well the Sister named Nancy. While she is best known for one of the most sampled reggae tracks ever, Sister Nancy has done so much more for sound system culture, including being one of the first major female dancehall DJs!
GRiZ – Chasing the Golden Hour
If there were any good memories from COVID, it was the release of GRiZ’sChasing the Golden Hour, Pt. 3. A chiller departure from his traditional sets, the sunset-only, soul-infused set comes sprinkled with plenty of sax riffs. Considered “paper-friendly” if you catch our drift.
Gramatik
This one’s special. While Gramatik’s most recent album, Aequoreus, presents a bold evolution of his sound, I wouldn’t be mad if he played some Street Bangerz during his 9 PM set at the Now Stage Friday night.
Tycho
Likely to be one of the most emotionally charged sets of the weekend, Tycho, closing down the Here Stage Saturday night, is sure to stir memories, touch hearts, and build moods with his chilling blend of synthesis-driven soul huggers.
Lightcode by LSDream
After seeing GRiZ into LCD Soundsystem into Resonant Language into Tycho, or any other mischief you get into, that ol’ brain of yours is gunna need a wash. Come get sonically scrubbed at the soundbath and group therapy that is Lightcode by LSDream, Sunday morning at the Here Stage.
