Southwest Michigan producer BUTTONZ and Denver-based artist SNDY are joining forces for their new collaborative EP Moon Juice. The EP arrived today, May 22, via Chicago’s bass imprint Ex Medias.
BUTTONZ is a recent collaborator on River Beats. We featured his March “On The Buttonz,” which was his debut on River Beats. Since then, he has been at it in the lab and is back with this new release.
The three-track project marks the first official release from the duo together. It blends both artists’ styles into a sound rooted in underground bass music, hip-hop grooves, and funk-inspired rhythms.

The collaboration first came together after a chance meeting in Chicago during a Pretty Lights New Year’s pre-party in 2025. What started as a mutual appreciation for each other’s music quickly evolved into a creative partnership, with both artists realizing how naturally their production styles worked together. That chemistry became the foundation for Moon Juice.
BUTTONZ’s sampling and heavy bass work collide with SNDY’s atmospheric and experimental sound design, creating a project that feels both gritty and cinematic.
The title track “Moon Juice” blends hip-hop, funk, and bass elements into a cohesive lead single that helped inspire the entire project. From there, “Steppin In” leans further into groove-driven production, while the closing track “So Cold” delivers a darker, moodier energy.
The release also marks both artists’ debut on Ex Medias, the Chicago-based label curated by Able Grey known for spotlighting forward-thinking bass artists. With Moon Juice, BUTTONZ and SNDY deliver a collaborative project that feels equally focused on sound system energy and detailed storytelling.
