The year 2020 has been full of surprises. One of the brighter ones is how TikTok’s short-form video has brought new life to tunes from years’ past. At its most extreme, Doggface brought a 1977 Fleetwood Mac hit back to the top of the charts, and countless hidden gems have found traction on the platform. One of those is Ark Patrol‘s 2015 single “Let Go” with Veronika Redd, and today, the pair reunite for a sublime acoustic rendition of the track.
The new take on “Let Go” amplifies the chill vibes that the original emanates. The simple percussion and warm guitars are reminiscent of sunsets and coffee shops — the perfect feel good track to ease into winter. Speaking on the release, Ark Patrol and Veronika Redd add:
“Veronika and I were stoked to get together again and bring you this special interpretation of one of the first songs we wrote in our career. For the acoustic version I wanted to make sure the whole song could be made with only a guitar and the voice, though I did cheat at the end with a little plate reverb. Special thanks to everyone who has been listening since the original song!”

“Let Go” is a far cry from Ark Patrol’s hit single “Hex“, a vibrant trap track that similarly took a life of its own in the HBO show Euphoria and Microsoft ads, yet affirms the producer can do it all. After a 2018 cancer diagnosis that we’re proud to say he’s since beat, Ark Patrol has made a splash with a 2019 self-title project and his 2020 LP Geode — with more tunes on the way in 2021.
