The fallout from the Epstein files has reached the music industry, with one of the biggest names in the scene, Casey Wasserman, at the forefront of it all.
News broke that Casey Wasserman was listed in the Epstein files, with several emails directly between Casey Wasserman, the chairman of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics organizing committee, and the current CEO of Wasserman Talent Agency, and Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted sex offender and Jeffrey Epstein’s former romantic partner.
Since that news broke, Wasserman has faced backlash given his presence on convicted sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein’s plane in 2002 and the release of suggestive emails from 2003 between him and accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell. References to “massages,” “rubbing,” “tight leather flying suits,” and an overarching flirtatious demeanor.
As of the time this was posted, Wasserman has removed their roster from their website in what appears to be an effort to reduce blowback.
Artists like Billie Eilish and Chappell Roan have taken a stand and departed the agency; others are finding themselves in a difficult situation, unsure of what move to make.
Wasserman issued an apology on Jan. 31 and said he is “terribly sorry for having any association with either of them” and that he was on the plane as part of “a humanitarian trip.”
Is there a scenario where Casey Wasserman resigns, and the artists stay with their current representation?
You can see several of the emails below, and also reactions from artists across the spectrum, including tons of dance artists and pop stars alike.
