Natalie Shay – People Like Me
“People Like Me” is an infectious 80’s inspired indie-pop track from 20-year-old London artist Natalie Shay. The track details the challenges that artists face and how social media can act as a mask, bringing a rose-tinted perception of what someone is really going through.
Felix Cartal – Over It (ft Veronica)
Canadian melodic house producer Felix Cartal is a master of emotive electronic music, but in this latest with Veronica he proves that this type of music can work in the clubs as well.
“Veronica and I wrote this song while I was in LA. We did the whole demo super quickly. Over the next few months, I really wanted to refine it into something emotional that still works in the club. This has been one of the biggest songs of my set, and I can’t wait to see the reactions at my shows once people are familiar with it.” – Felix Cartal
Maison Ware – Voices EP
Voices is a bass-driven dark house EP that takes influence from towering lights and dark back streets of the Shibuya district in Tokyo. Creating the perfect blend of forward-thinking productions with classic dance music elements, Maison Ware makes music drawn from the flourishing nightlife and innovative design trends juxtaposed against a dark, urban underbelly.
The Maya Spectra – Fuege
Phoenix-based Omni Genre band The Maya Spectra create a whimsically distinct sound colored with scintillating synths and swelling stacks of vocals. Their new EP Fugue is a thrilling exploration of sounds and textures providing a strong testament to the power of uninhibited creation.
Lana Del Rey – Summertime Sadness (Flats Stanlie Remix)
“Summertime Sadness” is an undeniable classic, and also my mood most of the time. It’s been years since I’ve heard a good remix of the track, but the wait is over. Flats Stanlie completely transforms the song into a huge melodic bass summer banger.
“Summertime Sadness has always been a top favorite in my book. I’ve loved the song since the day it dropped. I always wanted to give it a remix I felt it deserved, and really change the whole thing. With its slow ambient intro, into a quick energy build that releases into a massive melodic drop I believe I did the job right.” – Flats Stanlie
Tessa Violet – Crush (Le Youth Remix)
“Crush” is my song of the summer, and Tessa Violet is a star in the making. Le Youth beautifully reimagines the indie-pop track, turning it into a dreamy summer dance hit.
“So stoked for people to hear these! I’ve never had remixes of my songs before so wasn’t sure how I’d feel but Le Youth and Viceroy created amazing new takes on my songs that I’m SO thrilled about. They both feel perfect for summer too! And just in time for my summer headline tour that starts this week!” – Tessa Violet
Sparkee – Discovery EP
If you’re looking for something fresh and innovative and irresistibly fun, Sparkee has you covered. Discovery seamlessly melds elements of disco, jazz, chill hip-hop, pop, and electro for an EP that wouldn’t feel out of place next to Daft Punk and Chromeo.
VERSANO – Life is a Riddem EP
If you read the title of VERSANO’s latest EP wrong, you might be expecting Riddim, but never fear. Life is a Riddem is a versatile blend of Afro and Latin rhythms designed to make the club bounce no matter where in the world you are.
Mima Good – Holly Golightly
The Brooklyn-based singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Mima Good made a bluesy track constructed entirely out of samples from the classic Breakfast At Tiffany’s, and it’s pure gold.
“The score embodies the chaotic romantic New York we long for and Audrey Hepburn’s singsongy drawls of neurotic lyricism are pure gold… If she were a millennial in 2019 she would spend her days sharing vintage looks and mood swings with her thousands of Instagram followers and would probably be on a strong combination of SSRIs. To me, she is a charming metaphor for surviving under capitalist patriarchy and making it look good as hell.” – Raechel Rosen (Mima Good)
Chris Siegel – Week 1
“Week 1” is a lush instrumental track made for earlier summer mornings when you never went to sleep. It’s a calming, carefree track layered with infectious synths, percussion, and keys, topped off with a funky guitar loop.
These are just a few of the songs in the newest update to Freshly Picked Beats. Be sure to check out the Spotify playlist in its entirety below.
