Rising indie-dance duo Tonoso just kicked off album season with a bang with their lead single “Fiction”.
Today we introduce Los Angeles-based producers and multi-instrumentalists Tonoso to the River Beats fam. The pair just dropped “Fiction” — an unbelievable first taste of their upcoming full-length project Artificial Dreams.
“Fiction” takes a hide first dive into another dimension after a drowned out, ethereal first phrase. The track’s warm guitar melodies and layered vocals intermix with wavering chord progressions and an entrancing bassline. Jacob Grabb, the half behind the vocals on the track, serves up an elegantly layered topline while tag teaming production with multi-instrumentalist Paul Salerno.
Tonoso have spent the last year honing in on their signature sound and pushing it to new heights. Past their eclectic mix of singles, Tonoso transitioned to a production powerhouse with their “one-day cover” challenges that kicked off with Tycho’s “Awake” and, most recently, an unforgettable take on Rüfüs Du Sol’s “On My Knees“.
The two also let their humor shine trying to make “everything disco” — especially the tracks furthest from it — like Smash Mouth’s “All Star” and Rage Against The Machine’s “Testify“.
“Fiction” follows the pair’s energetic early 2022 single “Hide” and kicks of the rollout of their debut album Artificial Dreams. If this lead single is any indication, Tonoso is a name worth remembering early.
