WHILE ALL FIVE OF THE REMIXES OF VERA BLUE’S FEMINIST POP BANGER “LADY POWERS” ARE WORTH THE LISTEN, ONE IN PARTICULAR IS AN OBVIOUS STAND OUT.
Released today on the Power Ladies Remix EP, TOKiMONSTA’s remix is a step away from her usual sound.
With popping synth progressions layered over a calming, but groovy back beat, the remix is sure to have you up and moving. No matter what genre of music you prefer, the rawness of the track is sure to please any critics’ ear.
Since her 2010 debut album, Midnight Menu, TOKiMOSNTA has made her name in the West Coast beat scene over the past eight years. Having collaborated with artists like Jessie Ware, Anderson .Paak and Kelly Rowland, it comes at no surprise that Blue picked her as one of the artists to remix the year-old hit.
When remixing the track, the message that the original portrayed came as an inspiration when, TOKiMONSTA explained in a press release.
“The first vocal line she uses is, ‘I could bare my body and my bones, but that would only tear me from my throne.’ That’s kind of the whole idea of the song: ‘I could show myself to you, I could bare myself to you and feel a little bit uncomfortable about it, but that will just make me feel like I don’t respect myself.’ I love that that’s the first line she chose.” TOKiMONSTA
The TOKiMONSTA remix is available for listen on Spotify and Apple Music. While you’re there, listen to the other remixes and the original if you haven’t already. You won’t regret it!
