After the horrific death of Minnesota resident George Floyd on Monday night, protests broke out in Minneapolis following the video going viral across social platforms. The video showed police officer Derek Chauvin pinning his knee against George’s neck as he shouted that he couldn’t breathe, begging for his life.
Since the protests began, numerous arrests have been made as cops threw tear gas and shot rubber bullets at protestors. This sparked interest in the Minnesota Freedom Fund, a non-profit dedicated to bailing out low-income individuals.
Once links for the fund began to circulate on Twitter, many celebrities tweeted that they have donated, including Steve Carell and Seth Rogen.
Other celebrities are also using their platform to shed light on the incessant police brutality issue targeting African Americans, including Ice Cube. View below for the tweet, and other relevant tweets sharing what is happening in Minneapolis, and across the country, right now.
