A renowned music platform brings a live-stream show to New Orleans for the first time. Sound familiar? No, this isn’t Boiler Room New Orleans: Part II. This time, it’s Pitchfork trying out their free live-stream show series in the Big Easy.
Pitchfork attained its ubiquity (as well as notoriety) for its critical lens at the music world. In addition, thanks to many successful iterations of its Pitchfork Music Festival, the media platform has a proven track record for organizing large-scale events. Pitchfork Radio is a relatively new experiment, and is reflective of a growing demand for the option to live-stream concerts and festivals.
On August 29-30, Pitchfork Media teams up with Bud Light to host Pitchfork Radio at Republic NOLA.
The venue will be open to the public during the broadcast each day, from 12-6pm Central time. This event, a collaboration between the two companies, is a meeting point between the Pitchfork Radio series and Bud Light’sDive Bar Tour. Whether or not Republic NOLA actually counts as a dive bar – we’ll leave that up to the readers. Regardless, this is a fantastic opportunity to put New Orleans ever-growing music scene on full display. Besides (and as Bud Light will find out), New Orleans residents know how to party.
A$AP Ferg, Courtney Barnett, Hurray for the Riff Raff, and Japanese Breakfast are some of the bigger names on the lineup.
Other names on the lineup include Waxahatachee, Joey Purp, Kevin Morby, Knox Fortune, Priests, Benjamin Booker, and Pell. These artists, among others, are scheduled for interviews, mixes, and more with hosts Elia Einhorn and Ted Shumaker. As one would expect from a Pitchfork event, the lineup is full of diverse and underrated talent.
Starting on August 29, fans will be able to listen to the shows via the TuneIn Radio app, the TuneIn web page, or the Pitchfork web page. For those curious about what the last show looked like, look to the gallery from July’s Pitchfork Radio NYCHERE.
