A soulful knockout isn’t easy to find in the heavily produced future bass realm, but P-TAB and Novelle totally found a sweet spot on “DNY.”
Over bright keys, vocalist Amanda Ducorbier croons quietly, “What do ya need, what do ya want?” With a kick, the track explodes into colorful synths and a catchy brass melody.
Why do we like it?
It’s great to hear the diversity of these two producers come through on this track, both of whom have dabbled in house, future, and other forms of bass music.
The song, named for the “don’t need ya” lyrics from Ducorbier, sounds like a triumphant leave from a relationship: resolute, powerful, and bittersweet.
P-TAB’s first collab of 2018 has the bright punches of our favorite Jai Wolf or Giraffage, and shows promise for both artists into the new year.
