Recognized for her distinctive fusion of melodic house, breakbeat, downtempo, and UK Garage, her musical roots go back to playing instruments in church and diving into rock music. At 21, she made the move to Las Vegas and kicked off the OLAN project, where she’s been blending DJ sets with live shows, all infused with R&B and early garage vibes.
“Floating Worlds literally refers to how unreliable and flaky our existence can be. As the album took shape, I started to realize I wasn’t alone in what I was feeling. That didn’t justify anything, but not feeling alone meant there’s a way to cope.”
Inspired by her tour with ODESZA and their supportive community, OLAN wrote Floating Worlds. The album, drawing on the concept of ‘liminal space’ from the book House of Leaves, represents a journey from existential crisis to finding fulfillment in life’s simpler joys. This transformative process is captured in her new music, which she hopes will resonate with listeners navigating their own transitions.
