One Year Ago Today, Madeon & Porter Robinson Ended Their Glorious ‘Shelter’ Tour

One year ago today, The Shelter tour ended its brief, but successful run during the final day of Coachella 2017.

And what a run it was. Madeon & Porter embarked on one of dance music’s more notable tour runs: the epic Shelter tour. If you didn’t see get the chance to see it, you are sore out of luck. Both producers openly talked about Shelter having no sequel, and Porter essentially moving onto his new Virtual Self project.

“I think what makes it special is that we’re going to go back to our solo projects,” Madeon told Tommy West of SiriusXM’s BPM in 2016.

“We know this is a transient moment, and that we’re taking it all in and enjoying it immensely, but we know that once this is it, it’s it.”

The ability for both Madeon and Porter to make themselves characters of the performance was something special. From the production to the music, Shelter was a well thought out artistic masterpiece. One that will be hard to duplicate again by any electronic artist.

“From the start, we wanted everyone to appreciate this experience as something that was temp, once in a lifetime. We want the whole thing to feel like a blink, one single song, one single tour, and then it’s over.” – Porter Robinson

And a blink is surely what it felt like. Cheers to Porter, Madeon, and the Shelter tour.
