Koastle Reflects on Silencing the Skeptics, Breakout Year, and New Live Performance

Up-and-coming DJ duo Koastle is rapidly growing its fanbase thanks to a new live performance that is wowing not only fans but the duo themselves.

New and returning fans will get another chance to see this live performance on their upcoming Spring 2026 tour.

2025 was the biggest year yet for the Koastle project, created by best friends Brett Beaudette and Andy Mueller. They released a popular collaboration with Big Gigantic titled “Show Me,” and a month later dropped their debut album In The Beginning before going on tour in the fall.

The album is a 15-track story that signifies the beginning of Koastle’s journey and lays the groundwork for their growth in the years to come. The line of work solidifies their established sound of future bass beats and glittering synths, featuring artists like Laszewo and Talia Rose. The first track, “In The Beginning,” acts as an inspiring prelude with spoken phrases like, “it starts when you least expect it.”

That poetic line is Beaudette and Mueller’s living truth: Their success started when they least expected it after taking a risk to try something new.

The duo shut down all DJ performances for five months to focus solely on building their first-ever live set that would debut as part of the In the Beginning Tour. To bring their set list to life, they knew they had to try something outside of their comfort zone.

“I had to learn piano before, because I did not know how to play any instruments,
and the same with Brett. So, Brett was learning the push and the SPD drums, and then I was learning drums and piano. I was taking lessons for a couple of months prior to building the set, the stage, and everything. So that was a huge risk, but ultimately, that payoff right there, I really do believe, is what is setting this momentum forward.” Andy Mueller

It was a lot of pressure to take on at once: Releasing a new album, learning new instruments, building a new set of original music, and performing all of it live for the first time.

But Beaudette said that pressure is making people take notice:

“We called people fence sitters that were like, ‘Oh, I’m not sure if I’m in or out on them.’ And then all these people, all of a sudden, were in. And it was a cool thing to see our gut [feeling] of what we always wanted to do come to life.”Brett Beaudette

While much effort went into creating the auditory experience for their debut album tour, they knew they couldn’t stop there.

To create something truly special, Beaudette and Mueller put just as much emphasis on heightening other senses beyond sound. They’ve thoughtfully incorporated visuals, and even scent, into their live shows for a complete sensory journey.

“We have a responsibility to create a setting in which our art is consumed. Every great
artist that we have studied and watched before us, they prioritize that.”Andy Mueller

That means setting up essential oil diffusers in venues and intertwining an impressive light show with their music. As the rising stars find their footing in the indie-electronic scene, they admit their visuals are well beyond what a typical up-and-coming act can offer.

Beaudette candidly said that, as a group of their size, they should not be able to pull off the production they’re doing.

The DJ group called themselves lucky for getting to showcase such beautiful lights that add something inexplicably special to their nostalgic bass drops. It’s all thanks to their lighting director and Mueller’s childhood best friend, Griffin Dennen. His LD experience speaks for itself: working with artists including Chappell Roan and Blink-182.

It’s another ingredient in their recipe for newfound success: Having a team that’s just as dedicated to the Koastle project as they are.

“We were in rehearsals for a whole week. We locked ourselves in this room for 18 hours a day, and we were just programming that whole show sitting down with [Dennen]. He was putting in the work. Our managers showed up to every show, every rehearsal, to help us. So, to be honest, the only way we’re pulling it off is because we have a great team of people who also believe in this vision.”Andy Mueller

With a talented team behind them and energy from a successful fall tour, Mueller and Beaudette are excited to launch phase two this spring. The second leg will have several stops across the U.S., which have not been announced yet. Plus, you can catch them performing at several music festivals, including Gem and Jam, Okeechobee, and Transcend Music Festival.
