HAIM Returns With New Song and Video

HAIM Returns With New Song and Video

It’s been 4 years since the Los Angeles-based rock band released any music. But, finally, they have returned.

That’s right, the highly-anticipated sophomore album from HAIM is coming. The band finally announced that their 2nd LP, Something To Tell You, will be released on July 7th. The trio of sisters–Danielle, Este, and Alana–did not disappoint with this announcement, which debuted new song “Right Now” with an accompanying video, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson.

Their debut album, Days Are Gone, received widespread critical acclaim and propelled the sisters’ to stay on tour since its release. With one album, Danielle, Este, and Alana Haim earned a Grammy nomination. It appears that HAIM have a tendency to hit their mark on the first shot. So, it isn’t too surprising that the band and Thompson shot this whole video in just one day.

“Right Now” starts slow and gloomy, guided by the imperfect sincerity of Danielle’s vocals. One by one, Este and Alana add more instruments and vocals. Layer by layer, the song swells into the more sonically robust, percussion-heavy version of HAIM’s signature sound. A clear depiction of their evolution and growth, without ever compromising their unmistakable pop-rock tone.

Beyond the one song, HAIM didn’t give us much information about July’s release. But, if this video is any indication of what we can expect, Something To Tell You will be an album that was worth the wait.
