Disney World Unveils New Resort at Coronado Springs: the Gran Destino Tower

Disney is all about expansion and growth, everything from new additions at all of their parks down to their intricate and detailed resorts. The latest from Walt Disney World in Orlando? A gorgeous luxury resort at Coronado Springs Resort called the Gran Destino Tower. The new addition is officially open to the public today.

The new tower owes some of its design inspiration to Salvador Dali.As we started getting into it, especially from the Spanish side, we discovered an amazing collaboration that Disney had with Salvador Dali from Spain. And we really started to look into that from a graphic scenic kind of standpoint, colors,” explains David Stofcik, executive architect at Walt Disney Imagineering. What he’s talking about is a short 7-minute film started by Dali and Disney in the 1940’s. The film was finished in 2003 with the help of Roy E. Disney, Walt’s nephew.

The resort boasts dining options to please all, and there’s even a rooftop tapas bar that offers both indoor dining and a lounge with indoor and outdoor seating. Visitors can also enjoy cocktails and food at the Barcelona Lounge and the Dahlia Lounge.
