G-Space and SAINT POND Deliver on Dark and Energetic New Track, ‘SPUN BACKWARDS’

Forced collaborations seem a bit too prevalent in electronic music lately. We love seeing artists build and create organically because that’s the goal. Genuine, high-quality music. “SPUN BACKWARDS” by G-Space and SAINT POND truly embodies that mission statement.

Grady Bergin, known professionally as G-Space, is a musical mastermind known very well in the underground. The Massachusetts-based producer is known for incorporating live instruments into his electronic soundscapes, euphoric melodies, and gritty sub-basses. Lately, he’s been staying busy on tour for his recent album that dropped in June, Saturn Return. Just a couple of weeks ago, he also released a full music video with AXLFLY for the track “Angels Demons” off of the new album.

Baltimore-based producer SAINT POND has been making a steady name for himself in the phonk community over the last few years. Having released his debut album, Many Little Prayers, in July, followed by a massive performance at Griz’s Seven Stars Festival (Listen to his set here) in October, he is quickly gaining a plethora of new eyes on him. That said, it may have been the perfect time to remind everyone with “SPUN BACKWARDS” that he is no stranger to bass music either. With releases on Aspire Higher, Six Star Records, and just last month, Sweet Sounds Collective, SAINT POND has been steadily stamping his name in the electronic world as well.

This track is full of life. From the cosmic uncertainty and reverb in the intro and outro, to those crunchy synths and full-feeling low-ends, down to the delicately chosen samples thrown around tastefully. Elements from both sides of SAINT POND’s production specialties are clear as day in terms of the dark and energetic bass drops along with phonk samples, while G-Space’s melodic soundscapes, gentle ambiance, and raw wobbles also shine through in a clean-cut manner. Together, the two pair undeniably well, and we’d love to hear more from both of them in the future.

For anyone looking to catch G-Space, he has a couple of dates left on his Saturn Return tour, including Arcata and Cleveland, with more dates to be potentially announced.

As for SAINT POND, no other shows on the radar for the remainder of the year just yet, but he’s got plenty of new music to fill the void in the meantime!
