Bass innovator Floret Loret is back with a new 4-track EP called Lightsplinter, dropping today on Deadbeats. The project shows just how far his sound has evolved, pulling listeners into these wild, vivid sonic worlds full of textured sound design, heavy low end, and alien-like rhythms.

Floret describes the EP as a reflection of a tough year, but one fueled by growth and resilience:
“Lightsplinter is about pushing through challenges and stepping into something new. This past year was full of obstacles and uncertainty, but there’s always that spark of hope. The story follows a sword made of light, forged in the depths of Lightsplinter Cave to fight off the darkness.”
The EP kicks off with “Doves,” a track that feels mystical and tense at the same time: ritual-style drums, and retro sci-fi layers that pull you in. “Assemblage” keeps the momentum with a trap-leaning groove and a gritty bassline. Then comes “Frenzy,” easily the darkest moment of the project, built on chaotic energy. The closer, “Lightsplinter,” brings everything full circle with a sense of grounding, like coming home after the storm.

Floret Loret is also gearing up to join Shlump on his 2026 tour, bringing this whole Lightsplinter universe to stages across the country. It’s a big next step for him and another sign he’s becoming one of the most interesting voices in bass music.
