Welcoming BUTTONZ to the River Beats fam today. Making his editorial debut on River Beats Dance, for his new single “On The Buttonz.” Coming to us via Southwest Michigan bass producer BUTTONZ is back with his first solo release of the year.
If you are unfamiliar with BUTTONZ, he is known for blending groove-driven bass with hip-hop and soulful melodies. BUTTONZ has steadily built his name through releases on some of our long-time collaborators, The Gradient Perspective, Grand Alliance Music, and Muti Music. He’s also one of the co-founders of Grand Alliance Music alongside Willdabeast and has supported acts like Zeds Dead, Adventure Club, Marvel Years, and Steller along the way.
This new single really stems from the community he has built and grown into. The now-recognizable “buttonz on the buttonz” hook was born during one of the Boredomfighters Foundation’s Instrument Garden sessions, a traveling creative studio concept that pops up at festivals to bring artists together in a more open, collaborative environment. Boredomfighters is a non-profit working with youth to deliver music services. We have supported them in their causes over the past few years.
During one of the recent inspiration sessions, BUTTONZ was on keys with a Moog while Detroit artist Whitney Waz started singing the hook, and it immediately stuck. It became a running theme all weekend, eventually making its way into edits and tracks across the community before BUTTONZ decided to turn it into a full release.
The result is a groove-heavy bass track with clear hip-hop and melodic influence, pulling inspiration from artists like Daily Bread while still feeling rooted in BUTTONZ’s sound. More than anything, the record highlights what can happen when artists are put in the right environment to create, spontaneous moments turning into something much bigger.
The single is out today, March 20. Give it a listen below and follow Buttonz HERE on social media to stay up to date with releases and his upcoming tour schedule.
