After a week of deciphering BUKlues and months of anticipation, the BUKU Music + Art Project 2017 Initial Artist Lineup is here!
BUKU Music + Art Project returns to the docks of the Mississippi River at Mardi Gras World for its sixth year with a banging lineup featuring the biggest and baddest acts in hip-hop, electronic, and indie rock music. Headliners include Deadmau5, Travis Scott, Zeds Dead, Zhu, Tycho, Sleigh Bells, and Young Thug, as well as supporting acts Vince Staples, Nina Kraviz, Lil Dicky, Slushii, Lido, and more.
BUKU is known for implementing several unique aspects that set it apart from any other festival on the circuit: B2Bs, local talent, VIP-only performances, stellar support, and a unique art experience.
BUKU always serves up the most fire back-to-back pairings, and you’ll be hard pressed to find these anywhere else. So far from the initial lineup alone, we’re already treated to Ghastly B2B Herobust, Shiba San B2B Justin Jay, and Minnesota B2B Space Jesus.
BUKU also caters to the variety of local New Orleans-based talent, this year BUKU-goers will be exposed to the stylings of AF the Naysayer, Boogie T., Musa B2b Otto, sfam, Lleauna, and the Dohm Collective showcase. Louisiana-grown $uicideBoy$ have been steadily taking over the nation, but they’ll be returning home to the Boot state as a premier-billed act.
The creators of BUKU Music + Art Project handpick an intimate VIP experience, the S.S BUKU is the guaranteed blow-up-zone and you likely never again have a chance to get this personal with Ekali, Ganja White Night, Chet Porter, and more. These performances will take place on a multi-deck steamboat anchored in the Mississippi River, with open bars and other exclusive offerings to fuel your private party.
BUKU always books the next big thing, you’re certain to see those smaller supporting names topping lineups next year. Lane 8, Sophie, Kaiydo, and Ambré are among our ‘don’t sleep on this’ predictions.
Lastly, BUKU lives up to its ‘art project’ title. The Dog Paws Approved live art gallery is returning to the riverside, a wall of graffiti art panels painted throughout the festival and auctioned off at the close of the weekend to benefit BUKU’s choice charity Upbeat Academy. And the BUKU brand, crafted by illustrator Young & Sick and local designer Maya Jevans, continues to dazzle with some of the most beautiful art in the music industry. We’re digging the new style this year and stoked to see it continue to evolve in 2017.
