Bonobo, aka Simon Green, is venturing into the label game with his own imprint titled OUTLIER. The name comes from his existing umbrella of international club shows and festival takeovers. Accompanying the launch of his brand new ventures is the first track on the imprint, a collaboration with Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs called “Heartbreak.”
“Heartbreak” is an ode to NYC’s disco revolution of the 70’s and 80’s, with disco breaks and Christin Wiltshire’s iconic vocal line “I can’t take the heartbreak” from the 1983 classic “Weekend” by Class Action. On the creation and the ode to old school beats, TEED explains that “now more than ever it feels important to be putting out dance music with deliberate acknowledgement of its history.”
Bonobo’s OUTLIER imprint will reflect the more club-focused side of his repertoire, with “Heartbreak” arriving as one for the dancefloor in a time when it’s dearly missed.
