Brace yourselves for a deep dive into the pulsating heart of Denver’s underground bass scene. Welcome to Badger Bass Camp, a grassroots festival that’s defying the odds and making a name for themselves in a volatile industry. Andrew Wright, also known as BUSSIN, created Badger Bass Camp with the intention of uniting the scattered tribes of Denver’s underground bass scene and creating a safe haven for artists to network, collaborate, and thrive.
As they march towards their second year, the outpouring of community support has been nothing short of phenomenal. Year one brought in roughly 236 attendees, in addition to the artists and staffers, scraping by with a mere $5,500 loss—an almost miraculous feat in the festival world. But now, as the sun rises on year two, they’ve officially broken even on this year’s event and have also made up last year’s losses becoming a net green event on their second year, paving the way for reinvestment and growth. Andrew’s vision has taken root, quite literally. Plans are afoot to transform their new 40-acre plot in Hartsel, CO into a verdant festival paradise, with permanent structures and a hope to plant and grow a forest on the plains.
Badger Bass Camp isn’t just a festival; it’s a manifesto. It’s about paying artists in full, half a year in advance, bucking the trend of underfunded, artist-exploiting events. It’s about fostering a culture where art thrives, and artists are given the freedom to perfect their craft. This ethos has drawn a passionate crowd of artists who come and perform for the love of the scene, creating a unique, intimate atmosphere where connections and collaborations bloom.
The festival’s new location offers a fresh start while maintaining the spirit of the original. Attendees will pass the old venue on their way to the new grounds—a poignant reminder of our journey. This year promises an even more immersive experience with hallmark names like MeSo and Cut Rugs, and rising stars such as Lumasi, ION., and Trip Drop. And in a revolutionary twist, there’s a stage dedicated to audience members, giving new artists a chance to shine.
Wright’s journey from a one-man operation to the helm of BUSSdwn Productions is a testament to hard work and a little dumb luck. His newfound passion for curating events and managing artists inspired a rebranding in January 2024, taking cues from Liquid Stranger’s WAKAAN. Fresh off a successful “Road to Badger Bass Camp” tour, including a sellout in Dallas, BUSSdwn Productions is poised for greatness.
Join us in this sonic odyssey, where the underground bass pulses through the veins of Denver and beyond.
