Final Day of Backwood Music Festival Cancelled after Helicopter Giving Sky Tours Crashes, Three Confirmed Dead

Update: Franklin County Sheriff, Anthony Boen, confirms three people have died and one was injured in a helicopter crash near Mulberry Mountain.

Tragic news coming out of Mulberry Mountain today. The final hours of the Backwoods Music Festival were suddenly cancelled last night after a helicopter was reported missing just off site.

As of this morning, Franklin County Sheriff Anthony Boen says the helicopter was found and several injuries were reported. Emergency medical services and the sheriff’s office are on scene. Four people were on board during the crash.

Officers says the helicopter was giving sky tours of the area for the Backwoods at Mulberry Mountain this weekend. The Festive Owl first reported the news early this morning, sharing a video of festival staff telling attendees to keep those missing in their thoughts and prayers.

Zeds Dead and G Jones both canceled their performances as rescue crews were still searching the area for those involved in the crash.
