It’s been a busy start to 2018, with a slew of incredible tracks dropping in January. If your new year’s resolution was to have better taste in music, then you’re in luck. We dug through all of the releases and came out with only the best for Freshly Picked Beats. Check out our favorite tracks, and stream the entire playlist below.
Autograf – Hope For Tomorrow (Feat Klingande and dragonette)
I don’t think anyone saw this collaboration coming, but it absolutely works. Autograf is embarking on their “Caution: Live Tour” and this song is a perfect example of what electronic music sounds like with live instruments. The keys and percussion blend together perfectly with Dragonette’s vocals, launching into an experimental drop that is uniquely Autograf. It’s a song of hope that we desperately need in these dark times.
Elohim – Fuck Your Money
One of our artists to watch in 2018 has just released her first single of the year, and it’s everything we’ve come to love from her. Elohim writes and sings on a deeply personal level, and has an innate ability to craft joyous ballads out of the low points in life. “Fuck Your Money” is a beautifully upbeat track about growing up poor, but with all the love she needed. Check out the full story behind the song below, via Elohim’s Facebook.
James Blake – If The Car Beside You Moves Ahead
After a lengthy absence, James Blake is back with a starkly different sound. While the haunting synths remain a staple of his sound, he’s replaced his brooding baritone with a collection of chopped up vocals. It’s a sound that is as scattered as it refreshing, and it’ll be interesting to see if he sticks with the new sound going forward.
Manila Killa – Everyday, Everyday (Feat Nevve)
Manila Killa’s first original solo release since 2016 is absolutely beautiful. Nevve has been everywhere lately, but “Everyday, Everyday” may be the best use of her incredible vocal ability to date. It’s an irresistibly catchy love song with a dancefloor-ready hook.
DROELOE – BACKBONE (Feat Nevve)
Like I said, Nevve is everywhere right now, this time linking up with another 2018 artist to watch, DROELOE. This isn’t the first time the two have worked together, and their musical compatibility shows in this upbeat future bass track.
These are just a few of the songs in the newest update to Freshly Picked Beats. Be sure to check out the Spotify playlist in its entirety below.
