Before we dive into this super original single from Chicago producer INZO, let’s chat about how I normally decide to write about music.
I like writing about music that stands out in my mind. Those type of songs you listen to 20 times in a week. From the artwork to the synths, to the samples used, whatever makes the song stick.
That’s exactly what INZO’s “Overthinker” did for me. It’s a track that will stick out in my mind forever. The song begins with an amazing licensed sample from philosopherAlan Watts, who provides a friendly voice telling humans to “stop overthinking.” His healing voice, mixed in with some cinematic drops, create a sense of nostalgia throughout the song.
P.S. – If you aren’t familiar with Alan Watts you should dive into his work… unreal stuff. ODESZA sampled him in their first album; his voice belongs everywhere.
Why do we like it?
The song was released via Lowly Palace, and that makes perfect sense. Mixing in that future bass sound, but updated to please the 2018 listener. “Overthinker” drips with great sound design, & production. With releases already on Mr.SuicideSheep and the Taz Network, INZO is one of those young talents you love to watch grow.
