Short But Sweet: Pass the Good Delivers on Day 1 Pre-Hurrican-celation

This year, the 6th Annual Pass the Good Benefit made its home at a new venue, Becks Lake in Cantonment, Florida. And while the festival was scheduled for three days of heavy BASS music, artists and attendees had their weekend cut short by Hurricane Nate who made landfall just west of Florida.

But PTG organizers still rewarded those who braved the impending storm. If anything, Day 1 teased just how memorable the weekend would have been, had Mother Nature allowed it.

The festival grounds featured three stages, including the Heady.Made.Weird Stage situated within the campgrounds. Pockets of vendor booths and art installments branched off from the main road that wound from the entrance to the main stage in the back.

The music schedule, particularly at the Main Stage, had a few last-minute alterations, but most of the artists scheduled Friday did seem to be in attendance. PTG Day 1’s main stage lineup featured Truth, The Widdler, SPANKALICIOUS and The Fungineers on Incendia’s fire-breathing setup.

The Pyromid Stage hosted an evening block featuring ThazDope Records artists and ended with a three-hour, wee-hours set from Folks,. Heady.Made.Weird’s lineup impressed from start to finish, from Fowl Play’s sunset set to late-night appearances by Honeycomb and Zeplinn.

Early Saturday, Hurricane Nate was still barreling toward the Gulf Coast. This news forced festival organizers to disassemble Saturday’s planned music and workshops. Many attendees packed up and left the festival early to avoid the potential Category 1 storm. But other artists and ticketholders stood their ground—and were likely glad they did. Per social media posts from artists like Chark and Ludge, several Post Future artists went b2b for an eight-hour dance party on Day 2.

However, relatively few photos or videos from PTG have surfaced on social media since this weekend. That includes footage from attendees, media, artists and those involved in organizing the festival itself. Still, Pass the Good Day 1 did supply the good vibes—and even better music—for all in attendance.
