New Orleans rock band The Revivalists brought their high energy and good vibes to Boston last month. The Revivalists sold out the 2,500 person venue, despite being a frigid Sunday night.

Fans lined up to see the Southern rockers perform old hits and songs from their newest LP, Take Good Care. The 18-song and two-track encore set included fan favorites such as “All My Friends” and “Wish I Knew You,” along with covers of classics like “Miss You” by The Rolling Stones.

Music is Everything

Throughout the near two hour long set, The Revivalists appeared to enjoy the performance as much as the fans did. The eight-piece band jumped, danced, interacted with fans, and wore big grins that indicated their true love of music. They even extended their songs past the recorded original length, jamming out as fans cheered them on.

The Revivalists are a talented bunch who clearly love what they do every day. They live and breathe their music, and want the fans to feel as much a part of the show as they are.

Focused on Fan Interaction

“We’ve been coming here years now and I don’t think we’ve ever had a bad show,” lead singer David Shaw told the crowd mid-way through the show. Shaw is a rare performer who does not simply sing his songs while staring into the distance, instead, he gets up close and personal with his fans. He holds hands, has fans sing parts of songs with a microphone held into the crowd, and even compliments fans, creating an intimate and unique experience.

“I need to get me some of these. These sleeves are amazing,” he told a girl in the front row wearing rainbow-striped sleeves. Minutes later, Shaw was wearing them.

At the end of the show, Shaw took a moment to introduce the band and thank the fans. “We,” Shaw said, as he gestured to the crowd and to the band, “are the Revivalists”. Overall, The Revivalists put on a sonically impressive and engaging show that showcases their love for music and appreciation of their fans.
