ODESZA, Mura Masa, Sylvan Esso, Bonobo and Kraftwerk Top The Grammy’s Nominations for Best Electronic Album

One of music’s biggest events just announced their 2017 nominations. The 60th Annual Grammy Awards will return to New York City, taking place at Madison Square Garden on January 28th.

It’s always interesting to see the Grammy’s take on modern dance/electronic album of the year, and 2017 seemed to be no different. The nominations for this year’s top prize for dance music include ODESZA, Mura Masa, Sylvan Esso, Bonobo, and Kraftwerk.

Bonobo, ODESZA and Mura Masa seem to be the front runners for the 2017 award.

  • ODESZA released their third studio album A Moment Apart in September. The album is currently charting in iTunes top ten, and sat in the top 3 for several weeks.
  • Mura Masa, the young British producer who stormed onto the scene from collaborations with A$AP Rocky and Desiigner, released his self titled debut LP Mura Masa in early July.
  • Bonobo’s Migration was the sixth studio album by the English producer. It was released on 13 January 2017. Migration has been hailed as one of the best modern dance albums of all time.
  • Electro-pop duo Sylvan Esso, who earned their first nomination for What Now and german superstars Kraftwerk for their album 3-D The Catalogue.

The grammy for best dance album went to Flume for his massive 2017 LP Skin. Jack U, featuring Diplo and Skrillex, was the 2016 winner.
